| ![]() || Saturday, April 11, 2009 || AND I'M BACK TO BLOGGING!!! Haha i won't be surprised if this post never gets read, cause that's how long i haven't touched this blog, but hey i'm back! I totally miss being the "I'm gonna say what's in my head right now" kinda person that I was when i was blogging, not that I didn't say what was in my head when I wasn't blogging but anyways...One thing that's been bugging me a little, and when I saw it on the Sunday Times today I knew I had to say something. So "S" Factor. I don't know where to start, so the stuff's probably gonna come out in bullets but anyways. As quoted by the papers, it's a show that aims to find the "ideal" woman who is "everything a guy wants". I don't see how girls running around in bikinis for more than half the show fulfills that criteria. It's as demeaning it is to guys as it is to us girls. Guys, PLEASE defend yourselves. For one, if you're in a reality tv series, you can't blame people for passing comments on you, cause inevitably, if you're in the media, people talk, and you gotta face it. And thus I write. As much as it may seem like a strong statement, but it really is these kinda shows which does get people questioning, so what ARE Singaporean women like? Take America's Next Top Model (ANTM) for example. There're people out there who think it's too much exposure, literally, but honestly, there're talented models in that show, who trully have a passion for modelling and give it their hundred percent. It's not girls running around in little outfits being all giggly and bitchy and slapping pie on each other. Those girls are out there to prove something, and they're doing a pretty good job of it. I won't duel on about the nature of the "S" Factor show or anything. But I would just like to say a few things. To the producers out there, the next time you create such shows, don't say it's a show which packs a bunch of girls with all the qualities that a guy wants, cause it's not. I may not be a guy but I know they go for more than that. Just put it like it is, say it's a show looking for the next sexy FHM model or something like that. And for the women out there, if you've got a hot bod AND awesome brains, go seek some other way to show the world that you're intelligent AND sexy. It's not worth getting all that crappy comments if you really do have the whole package. If not, as much as you don't wanna be bitched about, you gotta face it. It's a show aired on tv, tongues wag. So don't say we don't have the right to judge, cause eh reality tv series, WE talk. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. It feels soooo good to put thoughts into words sometimes. =) |
